Privacy Policy
Your privacy on Jury
Effective date: 22 September 2026
1. Controller and contact
The controller responsible for processing personal data in connection with Jury is:
Ayman Karram
jurybetterdecisions@gmail.com
For postal contact, see the Legal Notice.
2. What we process
When you use Jury, we may process the following categories of data:
- account data, such as your email address, display name, gender selection, profile photo, and authentication-provider identifier;
- if you use Jury as a guest, an anonymous authentication identifier and the votes, credits, interests, and other activity associated with that guest session;
- content you create, including poll questions, categories, photos, product or other web links, link-preview details (such as the page title, domain, and image URL), audience choices, and Circle or Partner sharing choices;
- your votes, saved interests, credits, and feed interactions;
- reports you submit to help us keep the community safe;
- push-notification device tokens and your notification preference, if you allow notifications;
- if you join the Android launch waitlist on this website, the name and email address you enter, and a salted one-way digest of your IP address used only to limit automated submissions;
- when you visit this website, anonymous usage events (a page view, or a tap on the App Store button) with the campaign tags in the link you arrived from, such as
utm_source, and the page path. These contain no name, email address or device identifier; and - limited technical and security information created when the service is used, such as request and error logs.
3. Why we use data
We use this data to create and secure accounts, operate polls and voting, show public polls to eligible Jury users, show Circle and Partner polls only to the people selected by the poster, deliver notifications you enable, prevent abuse, moderate user content, and improve the reliability of Jury.
Before a poll or profile photo is transmitted for an automated safety check, Jury asks for your explicit in-app agreement. Poll questions and profile names are checked for unsafe text before they are saved or published.
When you choose the Links option while creating a poll, Jury uses the link on your device to request available preview information from the linked site or its image host. We store the link you submit and the preview details used to present that poll, including the page title, domain, and, when available, the image URL. We do not copy or re-host the linked site's preview image in Jury Storage. Preview images are requested from their original host when shown in Jury and may no longer be available if that host changes or blocks them.
Website usage events are used only to measure how many people visit this site and tap the App Store button, and from which campaign, so we can improve it. They are stored as aggregate counts without any visitor identifier; a short-lived salted digest of your IP address is kept for at most a day solely to block automated abuse. We keep the campaign tags for the current browser tab session only, in session storage, and we do not use cookies for this. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we do not record the events. Cloudflare also provides this website and may process technical request data to deliver it.
Launch-waitlist entries are used for one purpose: to email you once Jury is available on Android. They are not used for any other marketing, and they are not combined with your Jury account.
Where needed to provide the service, processing is based on performance of a contract or steps requested by you before entering a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). We also process data for legitimate interests in keeping Jury safe and reliable (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Notification permission is based on your device-level consent and can be changed in iOS Settings or within Jury. Joining the launch waitlist is based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time by emailing us; withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before then.
4. Who receives data
Other Jury users can see the content you deliberately share. For a link poll, this can include the link, its domain, title, and preview image. Public polls, including their poll photos or link previews and any profile photo shown with the poll, can be seen by eligible Jury users. Circle and Partner polls are intended to be visible only to the relevant Circle members or connected Partner.
We use service providers to operate Jury, including Supabase for authentication, database, and file storage; Apple for Sign in with Apple and push notifications; Amazon Web Services (AWS) Rekognition to check uploaded poll and profile photos for unsafe content; Amazon Web Services (AWS) Comprehend to check poll questions and profile names for toxic content; and Cloudflare for this website, including the waitlist form that forwards your entry to Supabase. AWS receives a photo only after you agree to this processing in the app. AWS receives text only to perform the corresponding moderation check. Sign in with Apple supplies an identity token and, when available, an authorization code; Jury exchanges that code server-side and stores only the refresh token needed to revoke Apple authorization when an account is deleted.
When you create or view a link preview, your device may connect directly to the linked site, its content-delivery network, or its image host. Those third parties can receive technical information that a normal web request provides, such as your IP address, device or browser request details, and the requested URL. Their own privacy notices and terms apply to those requests. When you open a link, the destination is opened outside Jury and the destination's practices apply.
5. International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this happens, we rely on the safeguards made available by the relevant provider, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses, where required.
6. Retention and deletion
We keep account and content data while your account is active and as needed to operate Jury. Link URLs and their stored preview details are kept with the associated poll and are removed when that poll or the account is deleted, subject to the limited exceptions below. Anonymous guest identities and their associated activity are deleted when a guest chooses to delete guest data, when the guest creates an account and the activity is migrated, or through the service's abandoned-guest cleanup process.
You can permanently delete your account from within Jury. Account deletion removes the account, polls, votes, profile data, moderation records, Apple token used for revocation, and media associated with the account. Jury also sweeps the account's poll-photo and profile-photo Storage folders to remove interrupted uploads and older avatar versions. A temporary provider failure may delay removal of a particular object; remaining orphaned objects are retried or removed through operational cleanup.
Website usage events are kept for up to 14 months.
Launch-waitlist entries are kept until Jury has launched on Android and the announcement has been sent, or until you ask us to remove yours, whichever comes first.
We may keep limited information for longer where necessary for security, abuse prevention, disputes, or legal obligations. Reports and security logs may be retained for the time needed to investigate abuse, enforce decisions, and meet those obligations.
7. Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of processing of your personal data; object to certain processing; or request data portability. You can contact us at jurybetterdecisions@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with a data-protection supervisory authority, including the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
8. Changes
We may update this policy when Jury or applicable law changes. We will post the current version here and update its effective date.
